This baking pouch replaces a home-made one. I was looking for one that was thick enough that it would steam properly, like the one I had, and that was well made and this absolutely is just what I wanted. My previous pouch caught fire in the microwave. This is definitely an issue with any cooking pouch, but can be mitigated by following the directions. Seriously, FOLLOW THE DIRECTIONS! For potatoes, wash then dry thoroughly. Wrap well in paper towels (I use two). Cook on high for two minutes. Check that the bag is not too hot in any one area. I just generally flip it over. My first pouch died because I used an old potato that was going soft. When it was cooking, it released so much water it soaked the bag and caused it to catch fire. Nothing was damaged but the bag. Trust me, you can smell it as soon as it starts. Lesson learned. Follow directions and don't use old vegetables. Don't be a goomba like me.If you haven't used a cooking pouch before, don't hesitate to buy one. Potatoes cook much better with one. They come out fluffier and the skin is perfect. Now, just a word about cooking times. Using a 5lb bag of white potatoes, a medium potato, by itself, will cook in about 4 minutes. A large single potato will take about 6 minutes and a single small potato about 2 minutes 30 seconds. This is with an 1100 watt microwave, so your mileage may vary. Enjoy!
